SCOTT ALLAN believes Jack Ross is the ‘ideal fit’ for Hibs - as the Easter Road favourite revealed his Scotland aspirations.

Ross has returned to Scottish football somewhat licking his wounds after being dismissed by Sunderland in October following just 17 months in the job.

However, Allan would rather focus on the style and swagger of Ross’ St Mirren side which swept to the Championship title in 2018.

That is what landed Ross his big move to the Black Cats - and Allan is hopeful that a similar brand of football will soon be on show in Leith as the new head coach puts his stamp on the capital club.

The 27-year-old said: “I’m really excited. I saw his work at St Mirren when they got promoted and some of the football was free-flowing.

“I’m really looking forward to being part of that. Everything I’ve heard about him is really positive, he’s got a great work ethic and a style of football that he wants to implement.

“Hibs could be the ideal fit for him.”

Allan, meanwhile, retains similarly lofty personal goals. The classy playmaker, who has found the net seven times in 19 outings this term, has not given up on his Scotland dream.

And, as the national team look forward to a mouth-watering March playoff to reach Euro 2020, Allan is aiming to catch the eye of gaffer Steve Clarke.

He added: “Hopefully if I keep doing well, he [Clarke] will take notice.

“Everybody brings different qualities to a team. My best asset is probably through balls and different games call for different players.

“I need to be settled and, for a player in the attacking midfield area, to be getting goals and assists. That’s the key area for me and what I want to be doing this season.”
