CRAIG GORDON: Wayward distribution caused a few hearts to flutter, but took a real sore one as he saved bravely at the feet of Augustin. Looked nervy in the first half under crosses but became more assured after the break and made a good save from Sabitzer. No chance at Leipzig goal. 6

MIKAEL LUSTIG: Had to be quicker on the ball than he showed early on as he was closed down on numerous occasions. Was sloppy with the ball in second half too, and was fortunate to get away with it more than once. 5

FILIP BENKOVIC: Shown a yellow for a handball to stop a Leipzig break, but didn’t need to resort to foul means to quell the threat of the visitors for the most part, marshalling the threat of Cunha well. Taken out of game by quality of the cross for Leipzig goal. 6

DEDRYCK BOYATA: Looks comfortable alongside Benkovic and helped to keep the Leipzig chances to a minimum despite some sustained periods of pressure after the interval. It’s a shame the pairing of he and Benkovic wasn’t available in Athens. 6

KIERAN TIERNEY: Caused Celtic Park to explode as he met Forrest’s low ball across goal at the back post to thump home and put the Scottish champions ahead, and showed all his pace and power to tee up Rogic for a great chance soon after. Powerhouse display. 9

CALLUM MCGREGOR: Had his heart in his mouth as Bruma went down under his challenge in the Celtic area, but the fact he was even there to make the challenge was indicative of the shift he put in for the cause. Wasn’t as effective as normal going forward, but sacrificed himself willingly for his team. 7

TOM ROGIC: Should have burst the net when set up by Tierney, but was at the heart of the action and showed off his technical ability to full effect. A lovely footballer and a pleasure to watch when he’s in this sort of mood. 7

JAMES FORREST: Brilliant burst and low ball across goal opened up the Leipzig defence for Tierney to slam home the opener, and he had the Liepzig defence terrified with his pace and trickery all night long. They eventually resorted to simply fouling the in-form winger, who on this evidence, simply has to start for Scotland next week. 7

RYAN CHRISTIE: Struggled to make too much of an impact in behind Edouard in the first half, being rather swept aside in the midfield maelstrom. Found his feet after the break and was much more involved, using the ball well and getting stuck in. Kept head well to slide ball across for Edouard winner. 7

SCOTT SINCLAIR: A little quiet in the first half and blew a golden opportunity early in the second as he hesitated when clean through on goal to eventually be crowded out. Has shown glimpses of his best of late but wasn’t his night. 5

ODSONNE EDOUARD: Well up for the scrap and brought the fans to their feet with an incredible run that showcased all of his strength as he left opponents flailing in his wake. Got the goal his performance deserved when tapping home immediately after Leipzig had equalized. Great showing. 8

SUBSTITUTES

YOUSSUF MULUMBU: On to help shore things up late on. 3

KRISTOFFER AJER: Replaced Sinclair for last couple of minutes as Celtic's defence went all hands to the pump. 3
