MCGREGOR: Will be disappointed with the goals he lost. Seemed to be a fair distance off his line when Beram Kayal scored the opening goal although he wasn’t helped by the fact the Scotland defence stood off him for so long. Vitally important and impressive late save from substitute Tomer Hemed. (7)

PATERSON: Toiled in the right-back berth and a long night for the Cardiff player. In fairness, with few other options to go there before the game there was always a suspicion this would could be a weak link for Isreal to exploit. (6)

BATES: Looked a little uneasy in the opening stages but found his feet as the game went on and Scotland recovered from the setback of losing a ninth minute goal. (7)

MCKENNA: One diving header as Scotland tried to draw level and quick to get back at one stage in the opening period to offer cover. Courage to carry the ball out from the back when Scotland were under real pressure in the closing minutes. Will draw confidence from another decent showing. (7)

ROBERTSON: Had a hand in two of the of three goals and usual industrious shift on the left-hand side as he linked up with Ryan Fraser. (8)

FORREST: Man of the moment. A hat-trick on the night in which he was Scotland’s outstanding player and the Celtic player in 110 years to net a treble for Scotland. Fine touch and awareness for all three goals to add to the brace that he netted in Albania on Saturday evening. (9)

MCGREGOR: Will feel as though he could have closed down Beram Kayal quicker at the first goal. Decent first-half effort on goal which was impressively stopped by a one-handed saved by Ariel Harush. Booked, a little harshly, for a foul on Dabbur. (7)

ARMSTRONG: Fine midfield performance. Full of energy, creativity and endeavour. Had a hand in Forrest’s first goal of the night after his initial shot was blocked but could be pleased with his overall contribution. (8)

CHRISTIE: Went beyond Fletcher before sending a casual flick to Forrest for his colleague’s second goal of the night. Terrific all night with his energy and vision. Like Forrest, reproducing club form at international level. Took a hefty kick from Dor Peretz, for which the Israeli was booked in the second period. (8)

FRASER: Offers pace on the flank and linked up well for Scotland’s third goal of the night. (7)

FLETCHER: On the end of a couple of flicks – including in the build-up to Scotland’s second goal of the evening – and worked his socks off to hold the ball up an give Scotland an out. (7)

SHINNIE: On for Christie and flattened as Scotland tried to break and alleviate some of the pressure they were under. (5)

PHILLIPS: Replaced Armstrong just as Israel pulled a goal back. (5) McTOMINAY: On for the latter stages as Scotland sought to see the game out. (4)
