No-one knows what is really going on behind the scenes with Leigh Griffiths and rightly so. But I think we all caught the tone of Brendan Rodgers' words this week after the player was snapped having a pint and a day at the races and to be fair, you would expect him to be keeping a fairly low profile at this stage. It is only right that the club have stood by him to get him the help that he needs but he also has to help himself. He can still come back from this. I just don't know, judging by the signing, whether the expectation is that it will be before the end of this season. But I did think it was interesting that the new additions that have been brought into the club all focus on the forward areas. So far anyway. Timothy Weah and the Ivorian striker, Vakoun Issouf Bayo, are young and none of us can predict how quickly they will settle into the side. For me Odsonne Edouard is a top talent and has the potential to be a huge player and presence for Celtic but at just 20, he is still very much in the early days of his career.

So Griffiths remains the most experienced striker that Celtic have at the club. If he can get himself to a position when here is in the right frame of mind to focus on football again then there is definitely still a place for him at Celtic because we all know that he can score goals. The most important thing is that he gets himself right mentally but you can see why his manager would be irked at seeing him plastererd all over the front pages of a tabloid newspaper when he has been granted leave for personal reasons. It has been a busy week for Celtic in terms of the new arrivals and Oliver Burke is another intriguing one, albeit that it is a loan move. The youngster has two big money moves behind him but he will also have a point to prove having found himself drifting out of the picture this season but I still think that we could yet see a centre half and a right-back arrive. None of us would really anticipate seeing Dedryck Boyata sign a new deal with Celtic and the liklihood is that both he and Filip Benkovic will move on in the summer. Having a replacement already there makes sense as you look again to those Champions League qualifiers.
