THE draw for the fifth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup has taken place, with a few eye-catching ties to look forward to. Steven Gerrard’s Rangers face a tricky fixture at Rugby Park if they can overcome Cowdenbeath, after the Ibrox club’s match against the Blue Brazil was postponed due to weather conditions on Friday night.

The two sides met in the last sixteen of the League Cup, with Rangers winning the match 3-1, and Steve Clarke’s team will host Rangers on Wednesday evening when the Ladbrokes Premiership returns after the winter break.

Celtic also have an all-Premiership tie but have the advantage of playing at home. Brendan Rodgers’ side will host St Johnstone, who last won the famous trophy in 2014. Celtic eased past Airdrieonians with a 3-0 win on Saturday to book their place in the last 16 of the tournament.

This year’s surprise package Auchinleck Talbot were rewarded for their win over local rivals Ayr United with a trip to Tynecastle, after Hearts knocked out Livingston with a 1-0 win yesterday.

Elsewhere, Inverness will make the short trip to Dingwall for a Highland Derby while Partick Thistle were drawn away to East Fife. The Jags will be wary of the threat posed by their hosts, having already lost in Methil this season when the two sides met in the Challenge Cup.

Hibernian will host League One’s Raith Rovers, while Premiership strugglers St Mirren will welcome Robbie Neilson’s Dundee United to Paisley for their fixture.

Either Aberdeen or Stenhousemuir – who will contest a replay after the two teams’ 1-1 draw at Pittodrie on Saturday – will host either Dundee or Queen of the South in the remaining game, who also drew 1-1 at the weekend.

All of the fifth round ties are scheduled to be played on the weekend beginning February 9.
