The events surrounding Neil Lennon at Hibs are farcical.

The statement that came out of the Leith club was a nonsense this week. He hasn’t been sacked and he hasn’t resigned, so where is he?

This is a guy who took Hibs back up, who took them into Europe and who got bums on seats with sales of season tickets through the roof. There was no cry from the support for his head which can sometimes trigger a reaction from a board in football.

And to me, and I’d stress that I’m on the outside here, it seems that a line has been crossed when it comes to a chief executive interfering with matters of the dressing room.

We all know that Neil Lennon wears his heart on his sleeve and can be hotheaded at times but you are allowed to be critical of your own players. To me, Leeann Dempster has taken exception to that and reacted and I think that is a huge mistake.

In the position as chief exec I think you are entitled to ask why someone is playing. As a manager you won’t like it, but I can accept that. But when it comes to meddling in the way the dressing room runs, that is a line you can’t cross.
