SEAN Goss believes that St Johnstone can end Celtic’s dreams of a ‘treble ‘treble’ by knocking them out of the Scottish Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The Saints have lost twice to the champions in a little over a week, both by a 2-0 scoreline, while they also suffered a disappointing defeat at Hamilton on Wednesday night.
But the on-loan Queens Park Rangers midfielder, who also had a spell at Rangers last season, thinks that Tommy Wright’s men can pull off a shock at Celtic Park.
“I think we can give them a game,” Goss said. “We kept our shape really well in the last game at Celtic Park.
“We had everyone behind the ball a lot obviously, but I thought we broke really well and we showed we can be a threat.
“It’s going to be a similar game to that on Sunday, and we’ll do our best to go there and get a result to get through to the next round.
“You always want to play in the biggest games that you can. It’s a tough game, but that’s what you want.
“You want to go to the big stadiums and big teams and play, and hopefully get a result there.
“We’re going there to try and go through to the next round, so we’re going to do everything we can to put in a performance and hopefully go through.”
Goss earned the approval of many of the fans who used to watch him at Ibrox by putting in a late challenge on Celtic captain Scott Brown during his St Johnstone debut, but the 23-year-old doesn’t expect any animosity to spill over into Sunday’s game.
“That’s just football,” he said. “It happens on the pitch all the time.
“It’s not something I really look at to be fair, I’m just out there on the pitch trying to get a job done.
“We had some words but that happens all the time on the pitch, it was nothing serious.”
