I am sick of talking about referees and listening to all the nonsense around them this season.

Yet, when I was a manager I was probably saying all the same things. I don’t think it will ever change.

And yet when you talk about football, refs are the very people that you least want to speak about.

For me, I don’t care whether they come from Northern Ireland, Wales, Mars or the Moon – I just want to see consistent and good decisions. And let’s be honest, if the SFA had to bring in whistlers from the Moon someone would be away looking to see if they had went to St Aloysisus on the Moon or if they had went elsewhere.

You’ll never take that element out of the game here.

The issue is that you have a very small pool of refs who are in charge of more or less the same teams and games so there is baggage carried on from games. I am not sure what the answer is but certainly the standard at the minute is poor.
