BILLY ADAMS refuses to rule out Glasgow Perthshire springing another surprise in their Scottish Junior Cup third-round replay against Pollok.

The long serving Junior boss orchestrated his side’s wonderful battling display in last Saturday’s first meeting of the clubs that saw seasoned goalkeeper Chris Calder save two penalty kicks and pave the way for the Central First Division outfit earning a 3-3 draw and a trip to Newlandsfield this week.

Even the most devout Possil diehards reckon the Shire will be up against it on the Glasgow Southside , not least because their inspirational centreback pairing Mark Thomson and Davie Kirkwood are set to be posted missing after picking up one match bans for being red carded at Keppoch Park , however a defiant Adams believes his depleted squad can match up with their more illustrious rivals.

He insisted , “I heard it said more than once in the immediate aftermath of last weekend’s game that our pitch had been a great leveller and we had now lost our chance of causing a Cup upset.

“The inference there is that my players are better suited to the heavy going and awkward bounces but nothing could be further from the truth because we have guys who h will relish Newlandsfield’s level playing surface and will absolutely thrive on the opportunity to get the ball down and play passing football.

“Pollok are very strong and enjoyed the lion’s share of possession at Keppoch so I’d imagine we will be rated no-hopers through there but people shouldn’t write us off as we have a number of players with good legs and were able to stay in the hunt to come ever so close to causing a major shock.

“Another crack at Tony and his team is the very least my players deserved and hopefully we can make the most of it.”

Pollok ‘s inept showing could result in changes to their replay line-up with goalscoring substitute Nikky Little thought to be in line for a starting jersey along with winger Nikky Prentice while Martin McGoldrick’s return from working abroad could see him figure in a defensive reshuffle.

No real surprise that Lok boss McInally was not for revealing his playing hand however the unhappiness felt over his side’s first game display was all too obvious .

He said , “We were indecisive and never got to grips with the conditions on Saturday whereas the Shire players did and were far more committed .

“That in itself is a disappointment for any Pollok team but we also conceded poor goals and contrived to miss a barrowload of clear cut scoring chances at the other end …over and above the missed penalty kicks …so we can think ourselves very fortunate to still be in the Cup and with all to play for this week .

“To produce another performance like Saturday is just not on and I’ll be looking for a reaction from each and every player at training this week before getting down to picking a team

“Trying to second guess the Shire’s line up without Thommo and Kirky is not easy but they might yet appeal their red cards so we’ll prepare as if both of them are playing.”
