Allan McGregor

Aside from a couple of crosses which went close-ish to his goal, this was an easy night for the Scotland goalkeeper. It’s not often you get to say that. 6

Callum Paterson

Let’s begin with his moustache. Just naw. He was beaten a few times in the first-half by Rangers’ Eros Grezda and was rightly booked for a foul on his tormentor – did well to escape a second booking. Got up to support Forrest and was fine. 6

David Bates

Someone will need to drag him aside to say that playing at the back for Scotland tends not to be this simple. But when called into action, was impressively solid. Booked. 7

Scott McKenna

Didn’t have a huge amount to do but Aberdeen man was comfortable and played one superb 60 yard pass to Paterson. He really looks the part but will have more trying nights. 7

Andrew Robertson

The captain was terrific, especially early on, and it was noticeable how vocal he was throughout the game. He should stick at left-back and Kieran Tierney moved forward when he comes back. 7

James Forrest

A brilliant performance from a man who should always start for Scotland. The first touch for his second goal, a delicate flick, was a thing of beauty. Best on the park by a mile. 9

Callum McGregor

He was the one to sit that bit deeper and he played the part with ease. Wasn’t as spectacular as he has been but did his job to perfection. Some great passing from a proper footballer. 7

Stuart Armstrong

Energetic and intelligent, as you would expect. The midfield is simply better with him in it because he covers so much of the pitch. 6

Ryan Fraser

Scored a wonderful goal on his best night as a Scotland player. His pass also found Forrest for the fourth goal. Hardly put a foot wrong and has staked a serious claim for himself. 8

Ryan Christie

Superb pass led to Forrest’s goal for this footballer who keeps getting better. A real menace all game and wasn’t afraid to leave a bruise or two – nothing wrong with that. 7

Steven Fletcher

He was a revelation but then he’s always been a good Scotland player. His link-up play was superb, particularly in the first-half and took the penalty superbly well. 8

Substitutes

Scott McTominay

On for Armstrong after 61 minutes and clipped the bar with a shot. 6

Matt Phillips

Gave Fletcher a rest with quarter of the game to go. A shot was so far away from the top corner. 6

Jonny Russell

Clever pass and run set up McTominay's chance. 6
