SEAN Goss says that joining Rangers was a 'no-brainer' after the midfielder penned a loan deal on Wednesday.

The Queens Park Rangers youngster will spend the second half of the season on a temporary deal at Ibrox after failing to make an appearance for the English Championship side so far this term.

Goss, who spent five years at Manchester United as a youth player, penned a three-and-a-half year deal with QPR last January but has made just six appearances at Loftus Road.

Speaking to Rangers TV, the 22-year-old explained that it was an easy decision to make the move to the Ladbrokes Premiership.

“For me it’s a no-brainer really,” he said. “Rangers is a massive football club with a massive fanbase as well, and being out there seeing the stadium was unbelievable.

“I know it is a tough league and there is a lot expected of the Rangers players. That is why I’m here – I want to challenge myself at a big club and I can’t wait to get going.

“It’s been frustrating for me personally the last year or so with game time, but I’m hoping to come here and do well for this club.

“[The experience of playing for Manchester United] will help. They are both massive clubs with a lot of fans all over the world. I am hoping to bring that experience with me.”

Goss revealed that Rangers midfielder and former United youth colleague Jordan Thompson played a crucial part in convincing him to move to Glasgow

“I’ve watched quite a few of the games, and I was woken up every morning by a massive Rangers fan in Jordan Thompson," he said.

“I have spoken to him quite a bit and he couldn’t say enough about the club.”

The midfielder also took a moment to explain his playing style as he looks to make an impact in the middle of the park for his new club.

He said: “I’m a defensive midfielder who likes to get on the ball from the back four and spread passes around. I also like to think I have goals in my game, so I will be trying to get forward as much as I can as well.

“I’d like to start the play off from the defence, get on the ball as much as I can and dictate the play. I also have that nasty side to me as well, and will get stuck in.”

Rangers travel to the USA on Friday to take part in the Florida Cup against Brazilian outfits Atletico Mineiro and Corinthians and the 22-year-old sees the winter break trip as an ideal opportunity to bond with his new teammates.

“I can’t wait and I think that will be a great thing for me to meet all the boys," he said.

"It is a great time to go away and get to know them, and obviously there are a couple of games over there as well, so I would like to impress in them.

“I’m really looking forward to living here too. I’ve heard it’s a lively city, and I look forward to settling in. But firstly, I look forward to going away with the boys to Florida, have a good week over there and then come back to the reality of it and get stuck into all of the games.”
