ALLAN MCGREGOR Had to be alert at times as St Mirren tried to assert themselves as an attacking threat but wasn’t forced into action. A straightforward clean sheet. 6

JAMES TAVERNIER Gave Rangers the perfect start as he converted from the spot after just three minutes but couldn’t double his tally as his second penalty struck the post. Made no mistake with his third attempt as he clinched the win shortly after the break. 7

NIKOLA KATIC Retained his starting berth as he looks to establish himself once again this term and was relatively untroubled throughout. A good showing from the Croatian. 6

JOE WORRALL Made a couple of blocks in the first half and was solid at the heart of the Gers defence. Wasn’t overly worried by anything St Mirren threw at him in the second either. 6

BORNA BARISIC Was steady in his own half and impressive in St Mirren’s as he got forward well and put in a number of decent crosses. Can be pleased with his afternoon’s work. 7

ROSS MCCRORIE Got the nod ahead of Ryan Jack to start at the base of the midfield diamond and put himself about in the first half. Didn’t last long after the break, though. 6

SCOTT ARFIELD Midfielder was steady if unspectacular in the first half as he looked to break down the Buddies defence. Had a slightly different role after the break but again did his bit in a largely comfortable victory. 7

STEVEN DAVIS Back in familiar surroundings as he made his return to Ibrox and had a number of neat touches as he started well. Replaced just after the hour mark as Gerrard shuffled his midfield. 6

RYAN KENT Involved in a couple of promising moves from a central berth and was unlucky to see a curling effort clip the bar late in the first half. Switched to the left flank in the second half and took home the Man of the Match award after completing the scoring. 8

JERMAIN DEFOE Handed his Ibrox debut on his fourth appearance since moving from Bournemouth last month and won the Gers two penalties in the first half. Opened his account on home soil with a clinical finish from the spot and then set up Kent for the fourth. 7

ALFREDO MORELOS Partnership with Defoe looked more promising here than it has done to date and the striker was always a threat. Couldn’t capitalise on a couple of chances that came his way, though, and it turned into a frustrating afternoon. 7

Substitutes:

RYAN JACK (for McCrorie) Introduced as Gerrard altered the shape of his midfield and performed well once again. An excellent cameo. 7

DANIEL CANDEIAS (for Davis) Added a spark to the Gers on the right hand side and tested Hladky with a low drive before the keeper saved another effort with his legs. Won the fourth penalty. 7

KYLE LAFFERTY (for Defoe) Got the final few minutes but had few chances to get involved. 2
