BORNA BARISIC is confident he can make up for lost time in the second half of the season after a frustrating run of injuries that curtailed his involvement for Rangers on occasions this term.

The Croatian has endured a stop-start campaign so far following his move from Osijek in the summer and has struggled to put together a prolonged run of performances.

Boss Steven Gerrard has admitted his frustration at not being able to select the left-back on a regular basis but he has now featured in the last two Premiership fixtures as Livingston and St Mirren have been beaten 3-0 and 4-0 respectively to keep the Gers in the title race.

The Buddies clash on Saturday was Barisic’s 14th outing for the Light Blues and the 26-year-old is determined to showcase on his talents on a more regular basis in the coming weeks and months.

Barisic said: "The most important thing for me is to play all the time and try and play in as many matches as I can because I feel like I have missed half the season through injury.

"It's important to win obviously, but personally for me, it's important for me to get games too.

"It's been very frustrating for me. I cannot explain just how frustrating it has been for me. I've not been able to help my team.

"I came back from my second injury, played three games and then got injured again against St Johnstone and that made me very unhappy because I knew then I wouldn't be able to play against Celtic.

"The important thing was we won the game, but I was disappointed not to play.

"The manager has spoken to me, we speak a lot. He knows that the tempo of training and matches in Croatia is not the same as in Scotland and that I need to improve my fitness a lot. I have worked hard on it and now I feel very fit."
