SCOTT ARFIELD reckons Alan Power made a conscious effort to play the ball as he caught Ryan Jack in the head at Rugby Park.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard was unhappy with the challenge on his midfielder as Jack received treatment after what could have been a nasty and far more serious incident in the first half.
Power was only given a booking by referee Alan Muir for the high-footed tackle and Jack was able to see out the rest of the match as the Scottish Cup fifth round tie ended goalless.
Arfield said: “I think he goes for the ball to be fair to him. I think he catches Jacko and gets a yellow card.
“I don’t think he tries to take Jacko’s face off. It’s just an incident where Jacko is brave and puts his head there for the club and the team. It is one of those things.”
