SCOTLAND and Lions full-back Stuart Hogg isn’t complaining about being back of the pro rugby treadmill after making his first appearance of the season last weekend against Leinster.

The result could have been better for Hogg and Glasgow Warriors in the European Champions Cup. But for the

25-year-old, it was just great to get back on the field after a frustrating summer.

“The injury during the Lions tour in New Zealand was a hard one to take, and getting back after the shoulder operation as well. So it was nice just to be back playing again, even if I was a bit rusty and lacking a bit of sharpness.

“There was a couple of things I tried that didn’t come off, while Leinster had four real chances and scored each time. It showed how clinical teams are and how you need to match it.

“Last Saturday, you have to give a lot of credit to Leinster. They stifled and smothered us and didn’t let us play.

"There is no easing up and the good thing is, you don’t have to wait long in this game for the chance to put things right. We are back in the PRO14 against the Southern Kings at Scotstoun on Friday, so we’ll be looking to keep our 100% record intact and make it seven wins from seven starts.”

Hogg was speaking as Glasgow Warriors have added Sterling Furniture, Scotland’s largest independent furniture company, to their growing portfolio of sponsors.

As part of the two-year deal the Tillicoultry-based company, Warriors fans at Scotstoun will be given the opportunity to enjoy the ultimate matchday experience through Sterling’s ‘Chair of Champions’ competition. Two lucky fans will be able to watch the Warriors from the comfort of luxury reclining leather seats in a private enclosure within the Main Stand with complimentary food and drinks served throughout the match.

To celebrate the launch of the competition the supporter with the best Halloween costume at this Friday’s sold-out game against the Southern Kings will win a place for them and a friend in the ‘Chair of Champions’ for the game.

Sterling’s Chair of Champions will be a permanent fixture at all remaining Glasgow Warriors games at Scotstoun this season. Details for the entering the competition for future fixtures will be announced by Glasgow Warriors and Sterling Furniture next week.

The sponsorship has also seen Sterling Furniture provide a makeover to the club’s Family room at Scotstoun, with the addition of brand new seats and sofas.

Glasgow Warriors Managing Director, Nathan Bombrys said: "Sterling Furniture is a market-leading Scottish business and it’s great to have them on board as an official sponsor of the club for the next two years.

“They have some great ideas about how they plan to use their sponsorship to engage with our supporters and we expect their ‘Chair of Champions’ to be very popular.

“We’re proud that they have chosen Glasgow Warriors for their first major sponsorship in sport and we look forward to working closely with their team to help them achieve their business objectives."

Gordon Mearns, Managing Director of Sterling Furniture Group Ltd said “Glasgow Warriors play an important part in the lives of many in the west of Scotland, which is a community that forms an important part of our customer base.

“Sterling’s Chair of Champions will be a fun addition to match days, and we look forward to collaborating with the club on further activities over the season.”
