SCOTTISH Rugby has issued a statement saying it is 'appalled' after a video emerged of England coach Eddie Jones suffering verbal abuse in the wake of Saturday's Calcutta Cup defeat.

BBC Sports Editor Dan Roan posted footage of Jones posing for pictures outside Manchester train station on Sunday before being accosted by Scotland supporters.

Jones is said to have feared for his safety on public transport, having also encountered problems on the train to London after attending Sunday's Manchester United v Chelsea fixture at Old Trafford.

Scottish Rugby assured in a statement on Wednesday morning that 'the disgusting behaviour of those involved does not represent the values of our sport or its fans.'

Scotland recorded a 25-13 win over England in the Six Nations last Saturday, their first victory in the fixture for a decade.
