IF you have ever wanted to see your own name on the side of a shampoo and conditioner bottle, this is the brand for you.

Gimmicks aside, US brand Function of Beauty aim to tackle the most common hair woes with a customised blend of haircare products to create, 'true hair happiness.'

My number one concern, like many women, is frizz and I spend a small fortune on keratin treatments to keep that in check. If a shampoo and conditioner can help deliver the same results I'll be sold.

The online ordering process involves completing a short questionaire, choosing five hair goals as well as identifying hair type and texture. You can then name your own personalised concoction, decide how you want your shampoo to smell (pineapple, eucalyptus and musk are among the choices) and even pick the colour of the product.

It arrives, beautifully packaged and would make a lovely gift for someone. There are plus points for being paraben and cruelty free. But does it deliver dream hair?

The shampoo lathers up well, despite being sulphate free and the conditioner leads to a very sleek rinse, whilst smelling delicious (I chose hibiscus).

I prefer to let my hair dry naturally and it's certainly a lot softer after the first use. I'll maybe see a bigger de-frizz after a few washes but I'm not sure it's enough to persuade me to ditch my keratin blowdry fix.
