A massive majority of Evening Times readers have said in a poll that they would not tune in to watch the so-called ‘Peru Two’ should they enter the Big Brother house.

From the 1,785 readers who took part, a staggering 85 per cent said they wouldn’t entertain the idea of watching Michaella McCollum and Melissa Reid on their screens this summer.

Meanwhile, only 12 per cent have said they would.

Glasgow Times:

The poll came after a source close to McCollum - from Northern Ireland - revealed to a national newspaper that both women, 24, were in “advanced talks” with producers of the hit Channel 5 show to potentially enter the most famous house in the country.

This year, the new theme for the reality show is pairs, so producers have been seeking applications from two people, be they partners, friends, or relatives.

McCollum and Reid - who is from Lenzie near Glasgow - became known as ‘the Peru Two’ around the world after being caught trying to smuggle 24lb (11kg) of cocaine worth £1.5 million out of the South American country in 2013.

Both women were jailed for six years and eight months after admitting to the crime, but were freed last year after making a deal with Peruvian authorities.

McCollum has been the most media-savvy of the two, so far, and the source close to her told The Sun she has been very eager to “build up her profile and her image” post-prison.

An LA-based social media guru for celebrities also came forward to reveal how she is likely to “definitely earn a decent amount of money” now that she has returned back home.
