It’s almost a year since the world woke up to the news that music superstar Prince died suddenly following an accidental overdose.

However, his iconic music and legacy will live on in Glasgow for an entire weekend this month.

West End restaurant and bar Hillhead Bookclub has announced a three-day Prince extravaganza from April 21 to 23.

The venue said: “It’s been a year since one of our heroes sadly passed away.

“To celebrate this glorious man, we are throwing a tribute weekend and turning the Bookclub into a purple paradise.”

Friday night will see non-stop Prince tunes being blasted, while Saturday presents DJ Rory Grant who will deliver one of the singer’s biggest record collections ever.

The weekend will then round off on Sunday with a brunch and special screening of 1984 film Purple Rain.

“Save your tears and drown your sorrows in our version of the Purple Rain,” said the bar of cocktails which will be on offer.

The event is not ticketed and admission is free.

Prince died at the age of 57 after being found collapsed in a lift at his home in Minnesota on April 21 last year.

Medical personnel tried to revive the star, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Real name is Prince Rogers Nelson, the artist was a musical innovator who was known for his eclectic work, flamboyant stage presence, extravagant dress and makeup, and wide vocal range.

He has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time.
