Celtic fans filled the Stadium of Light with a moving tribute to six-year-old Bradley Lowery yesterday.

Hoops fans had made their way down south for a friendly against Sunderland, the team little Bradley was a staunch fan of.

In a video captured by a Hoops fan and posted on Twitter, hundreds of fans repeatedly chanted “there’s only one Bradley Lowery” during the match in memory of the young mascot who lost his battle with a rare form of cancer on July 7.

The chant came on the day Celtic handed over a £10,000 cheque to the Bradley Lowery Foundation which will help to raise awareness of the illness, neuroblastoma.

Callum McGregor emerged as the star man in a changed Celtic side who ended up trouncing Sunderland 5-0 in the Dafabet Cup clash.

The match came on the day both Celtic and Sunderland fans clashed in the city centre which saw one Celtic fan be hospitalised with a serious head injury while at a book launch by ex-English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson.

In a statement shortly after the brawl, Northumbria Police said: “A man has been taken to hospital with a head injury.

“Police enquiries are on-going to determine the circumstances around the incident.

“Police are reminding all Sunderland and Celtic fans that any form of disorder, violence or any behaviour that endangers the public will not be tolerated and police action will be taken.”
