ROADS around Ibrox Stadium during match days will be closed until further notice while the current terror threat in the UK remains at severe.

Rangers Football Club issued a statement on their website after fans queried why roads surrounding the stadium had been closed during recent matches.

The main roads surrounding the stadium include Edmiston Drive and Broomloan Road.

A statement given to the club from Police Scotland said: "Police Scotland constantly review how we police major events and sporting fixtures.

"You will have noticed at recent matches at Ibrox Stadium that roads around the perimeter of the stadium have been closed prior to and at the conclusion of the match."

The statement continued: "Taking into account the current UK Threat Level and to ensure the safety of all spectators this new arrangement will continue until further notice. The road closures will be lifted as soon as the Safety Officer and Match Commander are satisfied that the spectators are safely away from the stadium.

"We hope you understand the reasoning behind the closures and ask for your patience and support.

"We work closely with the Safety Team at Rangers Football Club and this is an ongoing partnership that will continue as we work together to keep you all safe."

The Evening Times also reported in our home delivery addition that roads surrounding Bellahouston park will close for the Eminem concert on Thursday.

Police Scotland said they would be closing several roads around the park in a bid to further safeguard concert-goers.

The decision comes after terror attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils which killed 15 people and injured at least 130 people.

A van was driven into pedestrians on La Rambla in Barcelona.
