CELTIC are bracing themselves for one of their most active transfer deadline day in years as they hope to finalise a loan deal for PSG striker Odsonne Edouard and sign a centre-half.

The 19-year-old Frenchman is all but signed up for the rest of the season as back-up to Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele, who not for the first time has been linked in France with a big-money move to Marseille.

However, it is understood that the striker, currently injured, is going nowhere during this window.

Jason Denayer, who enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell at Celtic two years ago is a target for Brendan Rodgers.

But all signs last night were that he was signing for Turkish side Galatasaray.

Rodgers will move for someone else after the disappointment of the collapse of the move to sign Ajax Cape Town defender Rivaldo Coetzee.

The highly rated centre-half failed a medical.

Rodgers will see another £30million, at least, deposited into the club’s bank account in the coming weeks after leading Celtic back into the Champions League group stages.

And that means he will have cash to play with as the cut-off point of midnight looms.

Celtic winger Jonny Hayes, meanwhile, has insisted he knows nothing about rumours that he could be loaned to Cardiff barely two months after heading to Glasgow.

The 30-year-old, who is currently on duty with the Republic of Ireland, joined the Bhoys from Aberdeen in June for £1.3m.

Asked if there was anything in the talk, Hayes said: “No, not that I know of, anyway. You just see these sort of things on social media crop up.”
