A TEENAGE girl from East Renfrewshire has died after being taken to hospital in Glasgow.
The 16-year-old, who was a pupil at the prestigious St Ninian's High School in Giffnock, died at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in the early hours.
The teenager was from the Giffnock area.
Police said her death was not being treated as suspicious.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police were made aware at around 9.20am on Wednesday, February 14 of the death of a 16-year-old girl from the Giffnock area who had died at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in the early hours of the morning.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
A spokesman for Renfrewshire Council said the school would not be issuing a statement at this time.
