MURDER cops continued their hunt today for a killer as a community paid its respects to a man who died in a targeted and violent attack.

James Watt was found dead in a flat on Copland Quadrant in the Ibrox area of the city on Friday night.

The 40-year-old’s death is being treated as murder and now cops are looking to trace his last movements in a bid to find his killer.

Yesterday, however, the community of Ibrox was in mourning as tributes were left at the front close of the flat where the body was discovered.

Football scarves and flowers were among the tributes to the popular man who was described as a “lovely boy” with a “heart of gold”.

Mary Dalziel was among the dozens of people who lead the tributes on social media.

She said: “So deeply saddened to hear this. James was a lovely boy with a heart of gold. My prayers and thoughts are with the family.”

His heartbroken cousin Naomi Scott also expressed her shock over the death.

She said: “Still can’t believe this has happened to my cousin, absolutely devastated.

“Rest in peace James, you will be missed so much. Love you cuz.”

James was also known to many in the community by his nickname Scudger.

Renata Smith said: “RIP Scudger, you had a heart of a gold. Thoughts and prayers are with your family.”

Davie Dempsey added: “RIP Scudger, never met a nicer guy.”

The area surrounding Copland Quadrant still had a large police presence on Monday afternoon as cops tried to piece together what happened to James.

The force insisted yesterday that their enquires were very much still ongoing.

But we revealed on Monday that detectives investigating the murder wanted to speak to a man who was with James prior to his death.

James was last seen at 1pm on Friday on Brighton Place in Ibrox and murder cops are trying to establish his movements up until his body was found at 10.20pm the same evening.

They are keen are keen to speak to a man who was in the company of James on Brighton Place who is described as white, 5ft 8 or 9 inches, between 25 to 34 years old, clean shaven with short dirty fair hair.

He was wearing a Pringle-style long-sleeved jumper that was light blue or grey in colour with diamonds on the front, and dark coloured trousers.
