A VIOLENT prisoner who absconded from a Dundee Jail could be in Glasgow's Castlemilk area.

Cops are now hunting for Anthony McGinley, 33, who is a convicted prisoner currently serving a sentence at HMP Castle Huntly, by Dundee. His temporary release licence has been revoked whilst away on home leave.

Glasgow Times:

McGinley is described as being 5ft 9 inches, of average build, with dark brown hair and green eyes.

He is believed to have connections in Hamilton and the Castlemilk area of Glasgow.

McGinley was convicted of a fatal knife attack in 2012.

He was sentenced to nine years behind bars for stabbing 25-year-old Darren Gavan in Castlemilk in 2012.
During sentencing, McGinley was told that he was "a danger to the public" by judge Lady Stacey at the High Court in Glasgow.
He also had previous convictions for serious assault in 2003 and was jailed for 18 months in 2008 for another attack.
It is understood that the family of Darren Gavan have been informed but they did not wish to comment.

McGinley is known to be violent. If seen, he should not be approached and Police Scotland should be called on 101.
