THE search for a missing man is over after his body was discovered within water in marshy ground near a caravan park.
Police Scotland believe they have recovered the body of Anthony Lowey, 51, who vanished on Boxing Day, last year.
Known as Tony, he vanished from Ardrossan over the festive period before his body was found on Tuesday.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 4.30pm on Tuesday, March13 March, police received a report of a man’s body being found within water in marshy ground near Redburn Caravan Park, Kilwinning Road, Irvine.
"No formal identification has taken place, however, officers believe the body recovered is that of 51-year-old Anthony Lowey.
"A Post Mortem examination will be carried out in due course, however, the death is not being treated as suspicious. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
"Mr Lowey’s relatives have been made aware."
