A TEENAGE girl who was mowed down by a maniac driver in Castlemilk and left with a broken neck has got on her feet eight days after the attack.

Roisin Walker, 14, took her first steps in hospital on Sunday and left medics stunned as she strolled to the bathroom and had a shower.

Her mum Trisha, 42, told The Scottish Sun: "She was a bit worried at first and I was terrified. She hasn’t been on her feet for a week and has had muscle spasms.

"They were going to try to get her in a chair or walk her round the bed.

"She said ‘I think I can walk to the toilet’ — and she did. She had a shower using the seat.

"Nobody could believe it. The doctors said she shouldn’t be anywhere near walking.

"She has absolutely no fear. I’m so proud of her."

Roisin’s aunt Billinda Galloway, 26, wrote on social media: “Our girl has defied the odds and decided she was ready to walk. Just days after her operation!"

Roisin was in surgery for six hours at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after she was hit in Castlemilk's Stravanan Road last Saturday.

The popular teenager now needs surgery on her bowel and Trisha fears it could be months before she’s allowed home.

Cops are still hunting the driver of the silver Vauxhall Astra that hit Roisin, her pal Mirren Murphy, 14, a girl of 12, and two boys age 12 and 13.
