Motherwell man Ross Archibald shared a screenshot of the Facebook message his mum Linda sent to him to break the news not-so-gently.

Offering up her condolences in a sarcastic note, she wrote: “It’s with deepest regret that I need to inform you that your smartie Easter egg passed away last night .. mouth to mouth was given on multiple occasions but to no avail.

Glasgow Times:

“Cremation took place in a dignified manner ... I managed a few appropriate words of hmmm yum. Sorry for your loss love mum xxx”.

Clearly not amused when sharing it on Twitter, Ross, captioned the screenshot: “Dirty fly b****** canny even trust your own maw these days.” Never a truer word spoken.

It seems to have gone down a storm with his followers having gathered over 1,500 reactions in just three days.
