TWO police officers have been rushed to hospital after being injured in a major, ongoing incident in Greenock.
The force said officers were called to the scene in Gateside Gardens at around 8.45am on Friday morning.
The cops were taken to the Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment.
Early reports have suggested that one officer was stabbed in the neck and is in a serious condition.
The other suffered minor arm injuries.
Police called at 0845 am today to incident in Gateside Gardens, Greenock. Two officers injured and taken to the IRH for treatment. No further detail on injury. Officers at the scene - enquiries continuing. A man is in custody and has been taken to hospital.

The families of the two police officers have been notified.

Officers are at the scene and enquiries are continuing.

A man is in custody and has also been taken to hospital.
Police Scotland confirmed the incident was not terror related.
Eyewitnesses close to the scene have been taking to social media to describe what is happening.
One wrote: “16 police cars and 3 riot vans just flew between port and Greenock what on earth is happening?”

Another added: “What the hell is happening in Greenock? 12 police cars just passed work.”
Inverclyde Council advised locals: “Please be aware of an incident today in Greenock. Support Police Scotland with their enquiries and be aware of potential disruption while necessary investigations take place in the local area.”
