"It is heart-breaking that a 20-year-old young man with his whole life ahead of him, left to go to work this morning and will not return home to his loved ones.

"Unite Scotland have repeatedly called for greater enforcement and regulation in the construction industry including stronger health and safety standards.

"According to the Health and Safety Executive of the 196 fatalities in the five years to 2016/17 in Great Britain, 49 per cent were due to falls from a height in the industry.

"In 2016/17 of the 137 workers killed arising from accidents at work in Great Britain, 30 of those were in the construction industry which had the highest level of any industrial sector."

"Initial reports suggested that the person had fallen from scaffolding at the station, however it is now believed to be a ladder.
