A £50,000 Porsche which crashed into a police car on a busy Knightswood street was reported stolen just hours before, officers have revealed. 

At around 6.30pm on Wednesday night police were called to a report of a woman threatened and robbed of her car keys in Hyndland and had her Porsche Machan stolen.

A number of further incidents involving this vehicle were reported to police, and extensive enquiries and searches were carried out by divisional officers, including the use of the force helicopter.

However, cops descended on Fulton Street in the area just after midnight on Thursday morning after the stolen car ploughed into a marked police vehicle parked near the junction with Knightscliffe Avenue. 

The incident took place near to Knightswood Primary School with roads closed for investigation works. These have since reopened. 

Two male police officers who were in the parked Audi were taken to hospital where they were released after treatment to their injuries.

The occupants of the Porsche, a 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were also taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

The 26-year-old man and the 22-year-old woman have now been arrested in connection with this incident and police enquiries are continuing.

The incident will now be referred to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner.
