RENFREWSHIRE cops have seized a stash of alcohol from rowdy teens.

School leavers have been congregating around Paisley to celebrate the end of the term with booze.

But, police have warned parents to be aware of the dangers of their children consuming alcohol before reaching the age of 18.

Inspector Tracy Harkins said: "'This has become a yearly occurrence amongst school leavers celebrating their last day of school.

"It is understandable that the youngsters want to mark and enjoy the day, however, when their safety comes into question we have to intervene.

"By no means do we want to stop the kids from celebrating but it becomes necessary before things start to go wrong.

"The majority of the youths are not used to consuming alcohol and can become ill very quickly.

"They may also become vulnerable when intoxicated.

"In previous years we have had incidents of large scale disturbances and juveniles becoming the victims of crime due to their excessive consumption of alcohol.
