A POPULAR Glasgow not-for-profit cafe has launched a Crowdfunder campaign to to help repair its roof.

The Glad Cafe, in the city's south side, needs to drum up £40,000 to fix a leak in the roof of the tenement building it's attached to.

Camphill Gate tenement is in dire need of repair and residents have managed to acquire a grant to cover half of the cost but the rest of the price will be shared among householders and businesses alike.

Director Joe Smillie said: "For the seven years, we've been here we've had a problem with our roof. It's a flat one - exactly what you don't want in a soggy city like Glasgow.

"There are loads of puddles up there and they cause leaks in the cafe, venue and in our Glad Foundation room ... The share for the Glad Cafe is a massive £40,000 and we just don't have that kind of money ... so please go on, help us raise the roof."

The cafe, which is known for hosting new music and art exhibits, work alongside the Glad Rags thrift shop to fund the Glad Foundation charity which provides music classes for local people.
