PROUD mum Diana McFarlane shows off her own “little Prince” Archie, born just hours before the royal baby and said she is “buzzing” that they share the same name.

Diana, from Pollok, in Glasgow, gave birth to her first son on Monday morning at 1.51am, ahead of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed the first born at 5.26am.

Diana and her partner David Allison said they decided on the Scottish name, which is short for Archibald weeks ago, joking: “They copied us.”

Diana, who is also mum to five-year-old Orlagh, said: “I’m buzzing. My phone has been going mental with everyone saying ‘your wee prince was born first’.

“The midwife was in the house when they came out for pictures, but they didn’t tell you his name, I kept saying I think it was going to be Archie but I don’t think anyone believed me.

“We just decided Archie a few weeks ago, it was a bit out the blue. I didn’t want to tell anyone because I thought they’d say it was a wee old man’s name but there will be hundreds now.”

She added: “Orlagh is delighted. She’s been calling him King Archie and Prince Archie all day.

“I’m just glad my Archie came first because we told everyone his name on Monday – we definitely didn’t copy them. “They copied us!

“It’s historic. His name will go down in history.”

Diana told how she found out she was expecting a baby boy in December last year when she was travelling home from her gender reveal celebration and narrowly avoided a serious crash.

A bus careered off the road into a wall, smashing into the 29-year-old’s car in the process.

Despite being rushed to hospital, both she and her baby were unhurt.

Like the new Earl of Dumbarton, Archie was overdue with his parents expecting his arrival on Saturday, May 4.

But, after Diana noticed a reduction in his movements last week she was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where the decision was made to induce her labour on Sunday.

“They told me on Friday they were going to induce me,” Diana said.

“We thought he would be born on the Sunday because it was all happening so fast but, he came early on Monday.”

Both Diana and Archie, who weighed almost a pound more than the new royal with a birth weight of 8lbs 2oz, were sent home from the hospital the following day and have been doing well since, with proud mum Diana admitting the whole family is “smitten”.

She added: “It was David who suggested the name and I thought ‘that’s nice, it’s unusual’.
