THE city council has rejected plans to turn a hairdressers into a restaurant in Glasgow's West End after receiving a handful of objections.

Mr Eduart Aviadas asked the local authority for permission to change the use of the unit on 348 Crow Road which was occupied by Therapy.

The plans for the eatery, which would have been called Marlborough according to drawings, included a proposed outside eating area.

There was eight objecters to the application with concern for increased traffic and parking problems cited for reasons for opposing the plans.

Late night noise and disturbance, congestion to the pavement areas, harmful cooking fumes, loss of bike racks and privacy were other reasons cited by those opposing the plans.

Glasgow City Council rejected the plans citing a number of reasons. They said the proposed seating area could potentially increase noise level which would impact on those living in the area.

They were also concerned about no suitable arrangament for the management and disposal of waste.

The local authority also argued that no evidence was submitted to show the the vacant class one property had been actively marketed for class one shop use for a period of 12 months.

The proposal would therefore not protect the retail function of Broomhill North Local Shopping Facility.
