A doctor accused of raping a medic after a Glasgow night out claims the woman told colleagues they were going on a hot date.

Imran Khan, 40, claims he expected more people to show up to the woman's leaving night.

However when only the two of them arrived, the pair went to a pub in the west end where he claims the woman "told people they were on a hot date", and that Khan "thought she was being funny."

Jurors at the High Court heard how the conversation "became sexual" towards the end of the night.

Khan said: "When we were walking down Byres Road I said we couldn’t go back to my place but the Hilton was there and we could go there.

“After that she said we could go back to her place.”

Khan claimed there was more physical contact and kissing.

He claimed he went back to her home after she allegedly said she thought her fiancé was gay.

He added: “When we got back, I asked her for a cup of tea.

“She had the kettle on but there were no cups out.”

The doctor said he kissed her on her body and in intimate areas over her clothing.

Khan claims it was consensual.

Defence counsel Louis Arrol asked if Khan had raped the woman.

He replied: “No, not at all.”

Last week, the 30-year-old woman, who is also a doctor, told jurors that she didn’t want to have sex with Khan.

The trial continues.
