A COMMUNITY in mourning has begun a fundraising drive for a tragic teenager who died last week.

More than £2,000 has been raised so far for the family of 19-year-old Rhys Bonner thanks to well-wishers who set up a JustGiving page.

It comes after we reported that a body was discovered in the search for the popular Barlanark lad who was first reported as a missing person.

The body was found in marsh ground between Easterhouse and Gartloch Village on Thursday.

A post-mortem is expected to take place to establish the exact cause of death, which is unexplained at this time.

Rhys was first reported missing on July 24 and a major search was launched on social media for him with his heartbroken mum Stephanie regularly appealing for her son to come home.

The fundraising page set up in his memory said: "As a community, we have tried to help our friends the Bonners through this very difficult and heartbreaking time. Please donate every little bit will help enormously. Thank you."

One well-wisher, who donated, said: "Heartbroken for the family. Hopefully, as a community, we can help at this tragic time. Gone but never forgotten RIP Rhys."

We previously reported that Rhys' heartbroken family had thanked the community for their support in the search for him.
