IF Rangers could have done another deal for Ryan Kent this summer, that would have been a terrific bit of business for Steven Gerrard.

There are people that still think that if Liverpool aren’t able to sell Kent over the next couple of weeks and nobody matches their asking price that Rangers could still do a loan deal and there is a wee chance there.

If you are Steven, you just have to move on and say ‘we tried’.

Rangers gave it their best shot, but it was always up to Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp what happened with Ryan this summer.

And if they decide that they want to cash in and sell him rather than send him out on loan again then you have to respect their decision.

It would be a bonus for Rangers but I wouldn’t get your hopes up. I don’t think it is going to happen.

Ryan had a terrific season at Ibrox last year but it looks like Rangers will have to move on now.

For me, I would love to see another striker come in just to change things around a bit and give the manager a different option. Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe are great players to have through the middle but there are times where great balls are being put in the box and we don’t have the kind of player that can get on the end of it.

I would like to see a bigger striker come in and if they are going to bring someone in then that is the area I would be looking at.

Whether the manager agrees with that or not, only time will tell.

We have got enough options at the back and plenty of players in the middle of the park but I think another striker would finalise a really promising summer for the manager and complete the squad.
