ANGER among Glaswegians over the George Square Christmas lights switch-on tickets peaked amid claims cheeky punters are trying to profit off the free briefs.
Social media users have hit out at those who are apparently trying to sell the tickets - for as much as £50 each.
The Evening Times reported on Wednesday how thousands across Glasgow were left bitterly disappointed after learning they will go yet another year without tickets to the highly-sought-after event.
The disappointed masses across the city and beyond took to social media, branding the ballot selection process a “farce.”
Those who had applied for a maximum of six tickets to the night received an email just before 11am, telling them they had been “unsuccessful.”
Now, Facebook users are claiming those with tickets are trying to make a large profit off the free-to-attend event.
One Evening Times reader wrote on Facebook: “They’re already for sale on Gumtree etc - for up to £50 each WTF!!!”
Another said: “Never got any again. Been doing this for years and never be successful. It’s all wrong and now I see someone selling on Facebook for £50 each. A total disgrace.”
“Total con, so it is, and people selling them for money - aye right, was another comment.”

One man said: “There's some mad bird selling six tickets on a buy and sell page, £50 a wip.”
One woman sparked outrage after seemingly trying to sell the gold dust tickets for £50 each.
Nicola Andrews McCourt came under heavy fire after she appeared to put the tickets up for sale in a Facebook group.
However, the 27-year-old, from Alloa, said she did it as a joke as it was reported she had received online abuse.
She said: “Everyone takes things too seriously these days and believe everything they read on Facebook, so I thought I would wind everyone up and see how far people take it.
“It’s ridiculous, I’ve had people calling me a scumbag and saying they’re reporting me to the council.”

“It was a joke and if people can’t take it as such then shame of them for judging,” she added, reports The Scottish Sun.
Glasgow’s Lord Provost, Eva Bolander, said: “Demand for tickets for the Christmas lights switch-on has, once again, been very strong.
“We know with every successful application, others will have been disappointed. We simply can’t squeeze everyone who wants a ticket into George Square.
“So, if you’re lucky enough to have been selected, please come along and make it a night to remember.
“If you haven’t, we’ve still plenty for you to enjoy and take part in as we countdown towards Christmas. We’re looking forward to welcoming you.”
